the closest thing to this irl is spontaneous human combustion. the most famous case of this was mary reeser. one morning, her landlady found her burnt remains, which consisted of the lower half of her legs (which were mostly left untouched), a pile of ash, and her charred skull. when some items from her room were taken to the fbi for testing, they found nothing in them that could possibly start a fire.
the crime scene photos creep me the fuck out. imagine accidentally walking in on that.
